Good times at the Quiet Adventures Symposium!

Good times at the Quiet Adventures Symposium!

We had the best time at the Quiet Adventures Symposium – again!  This is one of our favorite shows of the outdoors expo season, and we love seeing so many familiar faces in the crowd and amongst the organizers and their amazing crew of volunteers. We talked a lot about outdoors safety again, and provided hundreds of safety handouts to symposium participants.

This year, John also joined in a special Paddling Adventures Radio segment in which we taste-tested a number of freeze-dried coffees to take into the backcountry. Do any hold up against the mighty bean? Check out their episodes page and look for the special edition episode to find out!  (Editor’s update: You can now find the specific episode – #215 – on THIS page.)  We also had the help of Kevin Callan, so you can guess that this was something beyond the norm and totally hilarious.

We also want to say a special thanks for the help of booth volunteer Susan Sheppard, who traveled all the way to East Lansing, Michigan, from her home in the Toronto area after two scheduled volunteers canceled at the last minute. Sue teaches a high school outdoors skills program, and we know her students are incredibly lucky to be able to learn from her experience. She also writes a great blog of her outdoors adventures, which you can find HERE. Sue was a great help at the show because she is friendly and outgoing, a hard worker, and truly the outdoor kind! Thanks again, Sue! (Editor’s update: Sue blogged about her experiences at the show, which you can read HERE.)

We look forward to seeing you all next year, when the Quiet Adventures Symposium turns 25!
